We also place British au pairs into Europe, we have 22 agents abroad and British girls/boys can go to study a language in another country, just ask the agency for details, our agents will take care of you once you are in their country. There is no charge for overseas au pairs coming into the UK but a £(current rate) fee is payable if we find a British au pair a family abroad, this is to cover general expenses. Living with a foreign family can be a good experience and one can learn the language of the country more easily. language courses can be taken . Applicants must be 18 to 27 years old to qualify for the au pair programme. | | | How to Apply Fill in the registration form and return it to the agency together with the following: 1. Three photographs (passport size with you smiling) 2. 1 or 2 pages of family photographs, i.e. one taken with your parents, any photos you may have of yourself with children, family pets etc. Try to make the photos interesting. The family will not see you until you actually arrive so a dossier with photographs will help the family to know you and will help us to find a family. 3. Medical certificate from your Doctor (3 copies) You do not need a full medical examination. 4. Written references. Two character references and one that is related to childcare. Must not be from relatives. ( 3 copies of each) 5. Up to date CV including information about your education, work experience, hobbies and interests. (3 copies) 6. A letter of introduction for the family about yourself. (3 copies) 7. Copies of any childcare diplomas, if any. (3 copies). Do not worry if you haven't any. | Applicants should have a basic knowledge of the language spoken in the host country. College classes will be arranged by the family to study the language. Other au pairs of different nationalities will attend language classes and you will make lots of new friends and meet new people. Basic experience and skill in household chores as well as some childcare experience is essential. Please do not apply for work as an au pair if you dislike housework or children. The minimum stay is six months and families prefer you to stay for at least one year. It may be necessary to stay for at least twelve months to benefit from the language classes. The chances of finding a family are improved by the willingness to stay for ten to twelve months and this will also correspond with the duration of the language classes. The most favourable times to start are from September to June or January to June.
